TL;DR
Ladakh has launched its first public EV charging network with five new stations across the region, a key step towards achieving carbon neutrality.
In a significant stride towards promoting clean mobility, Ladakh has inaugurated its first public electric vehicle (EV) charging network. Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena officially launched five EV charging stations across the Union Territory on July 10, 2026, marking a crucial milestone in Ladakh's ambition to become a carbon-neutral region.
These newly established charging stations are located at key points including Main Bus Stand Leh, Tia Rong, Solar Colony, Chuchot Shamma, and Khaltsi, with a sixth station near Magnetic Hill in Leh nearing completion. This initiative aims to alleviate range anxiety for EV users and encourage greater adoption of electric vehicles in the eco-sensitive Himalayan region.
