TL;DR

Kawasaki has teased the upcoming W230 neo-retro motorcycle for an imminent India launch, featuring a 233cc engine and classic styling, aiming to compete with Royal Enfield Hunter 350 and Yamaha XSR155.

Kawasaki has sparked anticipation in the Indian motorcycle market with a teaser for its upcoming W230 neo-retro bike. This new model is expected to launch in India in the coming days and is positioned to compete directly with popular models such as the Royal Enfield Hunter 350 and Yamaha XSR155. The W230 will sit above Kawasaki's existing W175 in its Indian lineup, expanding the brand's presence in the growing classic-styled motorcycle segment.

The teaser video, released as part of the 'W' range's 60th-anniversary celebrations, highlighted the W230's heritage, classic aesthetics, and riding prowess. Powering the W230 will be a 233cc single-cylinder air-cooled petrol engine, capable of producing 17 bhp of power and 19 Nm of torque, coupled with a 5-speed transmission. This engine is also featured in Kawasaki's KLX230 adventure bike in India.

In terms of design, the W230 will showcase traditional 'W' family elements including chrome-finished mudguards, round headlights, a teardrop-shaped fuel tank, and a chrome-studded exhaust pipe. Features are expected to include RSU front suspension, dual-shock rear absorbers, a semi-digital instrument cluster, and single-channel ABS with disc brakes at both ends. The bike will ride on 18-inch front and 17-inch rear wire-spoke wheels, promising a classic yet capable package for Indian riders.
