JSW Motors Prepares to Unveil Four New Energy Vehicles in India Over Next Year

TL;DR

JSW Motors, in partnership with Chery, plans to launch four new energy vehicles, including the Jetour T2 PHEV and Jaecoo J5 EV, in India within the next 12 months, marking its official entry into the market.

JSW will officially enter the Indian automotive market as an independent brand this year, with plans to launch four new energy vehicles over the next 12 months. Collaborating with Chinese manufacturer Chery, JSW Motors aims to introduce a diverse portfolio of electrified and hybrid models, signaling a significant expansion in India's green mobility sector. The official launch of the JSW brand is anticipated around the festive season, setting the stage for these upcoming vehicle debuts.

Among the anticipated models is the Jetour T2 SUV, a plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) with a rugged, Defender-inspired design. The Jetour T2 will feature a 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine paired with a 26.7 kWh battery pack, offering an electric-only range of approximately 100 km. It will also boast a 15.6-inch touchscreen infotainment system, Level 2 ADAS, and multiple terrain modes.

Another model expected is the Jaecoo J5, a premium electric SUV that draws inspiration from Range Rover aesthetics. This EV is slated to offer a 58.9 to 60.9 kWh battery pack, providing a claimed range of 400 to 460 km, with a power output of around 211 bhp. The Jaecoo J5 is expected to come loaded with features such as a vertically oriented touchscreen, a digital instrument cluster, a 540-degree camera system, ventilated seats, and Level 2 ADAS, further solidifying JSW's commitment to advanced automotive technology in India.
