Tesla Expands Footprint in India with Model Y Deliveries and Growing Charging Network

TL;DR

Tesla is expanding its presence in India with Model Y deliveries from a new integrated Gurugram center and an increasing network of Superchargers and destination chargers.

American electric carmaker Tesla is actively expanding its ecosystem in India to support long-term growth and enhance customer experience, beginning deliveries of the Model Y from its newly inaugurated Gurugram facility. This location serves as an integrated Tesla Center, combining retail operations, after-sales service, vehicle delivery, and charging facilities, marking a more structured retail approach compared to previous experience centers.

Since commencing deliveries in September, Tesla has sold over 100 vehicles and plans to establish home charging units, install Superchargers in major cities, and set up destination chargers at key locations like malls and hotels. With the upcoming commissioning of the One Horizon site in Gurugram, Tesla will operate four charging stations nationally, equipped with 16 Superchargers and 10 Destination Chargers.

Tesla India's General Manager, Sharad Agarwal, emphasized the company's commitment to building charging infrastructure around customers' lifestyles. The Model Y, available in two fully imported variants (Rear-Wheel Drive and Long Range Rear-Wheel Drive) priced from INR 59.89 lakh, boasts WLTP ranges of 500 km and 661 km respectively, and a 5-star safety rating.
