Mahindra's Charge_iN Partners with HPCL to Significantly Expand India's EV Charging Network

TL;DR

Mahindra's Charge_iN and HPCL have partnered to install 180 kW fast chargers at HPCL outlets nationwide, aiming to rapidly expand India's EV charging infrastructure and accelerate EV adoption.

Mahindra & Mahindra's EV charging division, Charge_iN, has forged a strategic partnership with Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) to bolster India's electric vehicle charging infrastructure. This collaboration aims to establish numerous EV charging stations at HPCL's extensive network of fuel outlets nationwide, significantly enhancing the charging experience for EV users and accelerating EV adoption across the country.

HPCL, a major state-owned oil and gas corporation, boasts over 24,400 retail outlets and currently operates more than 5,400 EV charging stations under its 'HP e-Charge' brand. This existing infrastructure provides a robust foundation for the rapid deployment and seamless expansion of Charge_iN's fast chargers. Under the agreement, Charge_iN will install exclusive 180 kW dual gun chargers at selected HPCL locations, promising faster, more convenient, and reliable charging for electric four-wheelers.

This initiative aligns with India's broader push towards cleaner mobility, recognizing that a larger and more dependable charging network is crucial for boosting EV adoption. The move by Mahindra and HPCL complements similar efforts by other key players in the Indian EV market, such as Tata.ev, which recently expanded its 'Mega Charging Hub' network through a collaboration with Shell India Mobility, reaching over 130 operational sites.
