JSW Motors is preparing its independent entry into the Indian passenger vehicle market with the planned launch of its first standalone SUV by the third quarter of 2026. This new model will be based on the globally recognized Jetour T2 SUV, developed by Chery, marking a significant expansion for the JSW Group beyond its existing joint venture with MG Motor India.
The SUV, which will not carry the Jetour brand name in India, is expected to be locally assembled at JSW's new manufacturing facility in Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar (Aurangabad), Maharashtra. Derived from the Jetour T2 i-DM, it will feature a plug-in hybrid powertrain combining a 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine with electric motors. With its substantial dimensions, exceeding popular mid-size SUVs in India, the JSW SUV aims to establish a strong road presence and compete in the premium segment.
