The Indian EV market was valued at US$ 2.36 billion in 2024 and is projected to skyrocket to US$ 164.42 billion by 2033, demonstrating a remarkable Compound Annual Growth Rate (CAGR) of 57.23%. Despite this impressive growth forecast, India faces a significant deficit in the required number of charging stations. While the number of public EV charging stations increased from 5,151 in 2022 to 26,367 by early FY25, a substantial shortfall persists for adequate coverage across the country.
Government policies are steering India towards large-scale development and standardization of charging infrastructure, with initiatives like PM E-DRIVE signaling the next phase of growth.
