TL;DR

Indian EV retail sales grew by 26.78% during Navratri 2026, accounting for 10.5% of total festive sales, indicating a self-sustaining shift towards electric mobility.

Electric vehicle (EV) retail sales in India experienced a significant uptick during the recent Navratri festive period, spanning from October 11 to October 20, 2026. According to provisional data released by the Federation of Automobile Dealers Associations (FADA) on October 21, 2026, EV sales surged by 26.78 percent, reaching 1,17,437 units compared to 92,628 units sold during the same period last year.

FADA President Sai Giridhar highlighted that electrification was the standout performer of the festive season, with EVs now constituting approximately 10.5 percent of total festive sales, a notable increase from about 7.7 percent a year ago. This substantial growth indicates that India's transition towards electric mobility is gaining self-sustaining momentum, driven by increasing consumer acceptance and favorable market conditions.
