The Indian automotive industry has kicked off the fiscal year 2026-27 with a robust performance in April 2026, reporting high double-digit growth across passenger vehicles, three-wheelers, and two-wheelers. Data released by the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) indicates that passenger vehicle sales surged to 4,37,312 units, marking a 25.4% increase compared to April 2025. This strong start maintains the momentum observed in the latter half of FY26.
Two-wheeler sales also saw significant growth, rising by 28.4% to 18,72,691 units, while the three-wheeler segment grew by 32.8% to 65,668 units. Rajesh Menon, SIAM Director General, noted that April 2026 recorded the highest-ever sales for both passenger vehicles and three-wheelers in a single month. This broad-based growth signals sustained consumer demand and a positive outlook for the industry in the new financial year.
