Delhi Extends EV Policy and Introduces Scrappage Incentives

TL;DR

Delhi's EV Policy has been extended until March 2026, introducing new scrappage incentives for older vehicles to encourage electric vehicle adoption.

The Delhi government has announced an extension of its Electric Vehicle (EV) Policy until March 31, 2026, or until a revised version is officially notified. This move aims to provide continuity and allow for comprehensive public consultations on the draft of the new policy, which will focus on strengthening charging infrastructure, reviewing subsidies, and defining public-private sector roles.

In a significant push for greener mobility, the proposed policy also includes attractive scrappage incentives for owners of BS4 or older vehicles in Delhi. These individuals will be eligible for financial benefits upon scrapping their old vehicles at authorized centers and purchasing a new EV within six months. Benefits can range from ₹10,000 for electric two-wheelers to up to ₹1 lakh for electric cars priced below ₹15 lakh, available to the first 100,000 applicants.
