Delhi's Electric Vehicle Policy 2026 has significantly accelerated the adoption of electric two-wheelers, with 1,648 out of 1,664 beneficiaries receiving purchase incentives. The policy, effective since July 1st, has garnered 5,678 applications across various incentive categories, disbursing ₹4.8 crore, predominantly to electric two-wheeler buyers. The scheme offers an incentive of ₹10,000 per kWh, capped at ₹30,000, in its first year.
Despite the strong push for new EV purchases, the scrapping incentive component of the policy has seen limited uptake. Only 52 applications for e-4W cars and 79 for electric two-wheelers have been received for scrapping. While ₹16 lakh has been released to 16 beneficiaries for scrapping older four-wheelers, and ₹2.5 lakh to 25 electric two-wheeler owners, officials note a slower progression in this area.
