TL;DR
BYD's luxury brand Denza will launch in India in November 2026 with the D9 electric MPV and the high-performance Z9 GT electric shooting brake.
BYD's premium sub-brand, Denza, is poised to enter the Indian market, with two distinct electric models confirmed for debut in November 2026. The D9 MPV and the Z9 GT electric shooting brake are set to be introduced as fully built-up (FBU) units, retailed through exclusive Denza showrooms, separate from existing BYD outlets. While both models offer plug-in hybrid powertrains internationally, India will initially receive the all-electric variants.
The Denza D9 MPV is positioned to challenge luxury offerings like the Toyota Vellfire and Lexus LM, indicating a focus on premium family mobility. Meanwhile, the Denza Z9 GT is a high-performance electric shooting brake, boasting a combined output of 1,140 bhp and 1,210 Nm from its three electric motors. This enables the Z9 GT to achieve 0-100 kmph in a claimed 2.7 seconds and reach a top speed of 269 kmph. It features a 122 kWh LFP battery, offering a WLTP range of up to 600 kilometers, and is expected to be priced between Rs 1.50 crore to 2 crore (ex-showroom).
The introduction of Denza marks BYD's strategic expansion into the luxury segment of India's rapidly growing electric vehicle market. The choice of two contrasting body styles highlights Denza's intent to cater to diverse high-end customer preferences, from spacious luxury MPVs to exhilarating performance-oriented electric vehicles.
