TL;DR
BMW India has launched the X1 Long Wheelbase (LWB) with a 1.5-liter turbo-petrol engine, offering significantly increased rear passenger space and premium features, with deliveries starting immediately.
BMW India officially launched the new X1 Long Wheelbase (LWB) on August 21, 2026, introducing a more spacious petrol-powered variant to its entry-level luxury SUV lineup. Positioned as a direct competitor to vehicles like the Mercedes-Benz GLA and Audi Q3, the X1 LWB is designed to offer enhanced comfort, particularly for rear passengers. This new model is available in a single sDrive18i M Sport variant, featuring a 1.5-liter three-cylinder turbo-petrol engine that produces 156 bhp and 230 Nm of torque.
The key highlight of the X1 LWB is its increased dimensions, with an overall length extended by 116 mm and a wheelbase stretched by 108 mm compared to the standard X1. This translates into an additional 109 mm of knee room and 150 mm of legroom for rear occupants, alongside a 15 mm longer seat cushion for improved comfort. Standard features include adaptive LED headlights, powered front seats with memory, a panoramic glass roof, and a 12-speaker Harman Kardon sound system, alongside advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) and dual-zone climate control. Deliveries for the new X1 LWB commenced on the launch day.
