Wheels India Ltd has signed a technical assistance agreement with Japan's Topy Industries, a century-old Japanese giant, to accelerate its expansion in the aluminium alloy wheel market. This partnership is set to enhance Wheels India's capabilities in the design, development, and manufacturing of cast aluminium wheels, a segment witnessing surging demand as automakers increasingly prioritize lightweight components for improved fuel efficiency and electric vehicles.
Under the terms of the agreement, Topy Industries will provide crucial engineering support and technical expertise to elevate Wheels India's product quality and shorten development cycles. Srivats Ram, Managing Director of Wheels India, stated that the collaboration is strategically aimed at securing contracts from Japanese Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) operating in India, where Topy holds significant influence. Wheels India is also expanding its annual production capacity to 1 million wheels by FY27 to meet the growing demand from clients like Hyundai and Volkswagen.
