Electric motorcycle manufacturer Ultraviolette Automotive is set to invest ₹779 crore over the next five years to establish a new manufacturing facility, dubbed the 'BIGGA Factory', in Hosur, Tamil Nadu. This significant investment aims to bolster the company's production capacity and solidify its presence in India's burgeoning electric two-wheeler market.
The new plant will initially have the capacity to produce 250,000 vehicles annually, with the flexibility to scale up to 500,000 units based on market demand. The facility will manufacture Ultraviolette's Tesseract electric scooter, the Shockwave motorcycle, the X-47, F77, and future models, with some lines dedicated to scooters and others switchable between motorcycles and scooters.
This expansion comes amidst a surge in electric two-wheeler demand, with sales crossing 1.03 million units in the first eight months of 2026. Ultraviolette expects monthly demand for its Tesseract scooter alone to reach at least 10,000 units, positioning it as a strong competitor against established players like Ola Electric and Ather Energy.
