TL;DR
MG's Starlight 560 EV was spotted charging in India, suggesting a potential launch for the pure electric variant of the 500 km range SUV.
MG Motor India's new 'energy vehicle' is set to debut on July 16, and recent sightings suggest that the pure electric variant of the Wuling Starlight 560, potentially rebadged for India, might be on the cards. A test mule of the Starlight 560 EV was recently caught charging at a public station in India, fueling speculation about its imminent launch alongside a plug-in hybrid (PHEV) version.
While heavily camouflaged, the spotted EV displayed design elements such as a blanked-off grille, air curtains on the front bumper, dual LED DRLs, and a charging port on the left rear fender. The Chinese-spec Wuling Starlight 560 EV features a 56.7 kWh LFP battery pack, a front-axle-mounted permanent magnet synchronous motor delivering 134 bhp and 200 Nm of torque, and offers a CLTC-certified range of 500 km on a single charge. It supports both AC and DC fast charging, with DC charging capable of replenishing 30% to 80% battery in just 20 minutes.
