The report highlights India's unique position, with nearly 80% of all EVs sold domestically already being manufactured within the country, mirroring advanced industrial economies like the EU and Japan. This strong domestic manufacturing base positions India favorably to scale up its clean transport sector without heavy reliance on imports. The electrification of heavy-duty vehicles is also identified as a key area for substantial future emissions reductions, a sector globally challenging to decarbonize.
