Hyundai is aggressively pursuing a multi-powertrain strategy for the Indian market, with plans to introduce several new models, including three new 7-seater SUVs. The Korean automaker is currently testing an electric compact SUV, a new mid-size SUV featuring CNG technology, and the next-generation Creta with a strong hybrid engine.
Among the anticipated launches, Hyundai is expected to introduce two new 7-seater SUVs, while its sister brand Kia will bring the new 3-row Sorento SUV to India in 2027, with testing already underway. Furthermore, the next-generation Hyundai Bayon SUV, codenamed BC4i, has been spotted testing and is expected to challenge rivals like the Maruti Suzuki Fronx. The new Bayon will grow in size to approximately 4.2 meters and is slated to be the first Hyundai SUV over 4 meters to offer a CNG option. It may also feature a new 1.2-litre turbo petrol engine, which is hybrid-ready.
This strategic push highlights Hyundai's commitment to regaining market share and adapting to India's evolving automotive landscape, where diversified fuel options and larger vehicle formats are gaining traction. The Bayon, expected to launch by early next year, will also feature a premium, feature-loaded interior with a large touchscreen, digital instrument cluster, wireless charging, ADAS Level 2, and six airbags as standard.
