This engine reduction was primarily driven by revisions to GST regulations, which impose a lower tax slab (18%) for motorcycles below 350cc, compared to the previous 40% for those above.
Despite the smaller engine, achieved by reducing the stroke length, the 2026 Dominar 400 sees a marginal increase in power output by 0.6 bhp, though torque is slightly down by 1.8 Nm. The motorcycle retains its distinctive design and road presence, focusing on making performance-oriented riding more accessible to a wider range of Indian buyers under the new tax framework.
