⚠️ When to Replace
Watch for these warning signs on your Splendor Plus FI BS6. The FI system is sensitive to fuel pressure — a weakening pump degrades performance before full failure occurs.
- Hard starting or repeated cranking — Engine turns over but won't fire, especially on cold mornings.
- No priming buzz on ignition — Turn key to ON and listen for a soft whirr from the tank. No sound = pump motor failure. Most common early warning sign.
- Engine cutting out at idle or in traffic — Pump losing pressure under low-speed conditions.
- FI warning light illuminating — ECU detecting fuel delivery irregularity.
- Power loss on inclines or under load — Pump unable to sustain pressure at higher fuel demand.
- Poor mileage without obvious cause — Inconsistent fuel pressure affecting atomisation.
Mechanic Tip: Always replace the complete assembly (pump + sender + strainer), not just the motor. Replacing only the motor leaves the old worn strainer — the new motor will clog quickly.
