Toyota has officially entered India's mass-market electric SUV segment with the launch of its Urban Cruiser Ebella EV in April 2026. This new electric SUV, based on the Suzuki e-Vitara, shares core components with its Maruti sibling and is poised to compete with models like the Hyundai Creta Electric and MG ZS EV.
The Urban Cruiser Ebella EV offers two battery pack options: a 49 kWh variant providing 144 hp and a 440 km range, and a 61 kWh variant delivering 174 hp and an extended range of up to 543 km. Both options feature front-axle single motors producing 189 Nm of torque.
Toyota is backing the Ebella with an 8-year battery warranty, a 60 percent buyback assurance, and a Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) program, aiming to instill confidence in electric vehicle ownership. The exterior design features a distinct fascia with sleeker headlights and a revised bumper compared to the e-Vitara, while maintaining a similar side profile and rear design.
