TL;DR
Indian EV sales, including two and three-wheelers and passenger vehicles, exceeded 200,000 units in October 2025, driven by the festive season, showing an 11% sequential increase.
India’s electric vehicle (EV) sales experienced a significant rebound in October 2025, surpassing the two-lakh unit mark. Total EV registrations across all segments reached approximately 2.04 lakh units as of October 29, indicating an 11% sequential increase after two months of month-on-month decline. This surge is largely attributed to the ongoing festive season and improved consumer sentiment.
The electric two-wheeler (E2W) segment witnessed a strong resurgence, with around 1.24 lakh registrations by October 29, marking an 18% month-on-month increase. This growth occurred despite persistent challenges like magnet supply constraints affecting EV production. Major contributors to this growth include Bajaj Auto, TVS Motor, and Ather Energy, collectively accounting for about 62% of total E2W sales in October. Bajaj Auto led with over 27,000 units, followed by TVS Motor with over 25,600 units and Ather with approximately 24,300 units.
In the electric passenger vehicle segment, leading manufacturers such as Tata Motors and JSW MG Motor reported robust festive season sales. Tata Passenger Electric Mobility’s Chief Commercial Officer, Vivek Srivatsa, noted a 37% year-on-year growth in EV retail sales during the 30-day period from Navratri to Diwali, exceeding 10,000 units. The electric three-wheeler segment also saw a boost, with sales reaching approximately 63,000 units in October.
