India's Automobile Exports Surge 26% in Q2, Driven by Record Shipments Across Segments

TL;DR

India's automobile exports surged by 26% in Q2, propelled by record shipments of passenger vehicles, two-wheelers, and three-wheelers, reflecting strong global acceptance of Indian-made automobiles.

India's automobile exports witnessed a significant surge of 26% year-on-year in the second quarter of the current fiscal year (July-September), according to the latest data released by the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM). This robust growth was primarily fueled by record-high shipments of passenger vehicles, two-wheelers, and three-wheelers, indicating a strong global demand for 'Made-in-India' vehicles.

Passenger vehicle exports alone grew by an impressive 23% to 2,41,554 units in the September quarter, compared to 1,96,196 units in the same period last fiscal year. Within this, passenger car exports increased by 20.5%, while utility vehicle shipments rose by 26%. Two-wheeler exports also saw a substantial increase of 25%, reaching 12,95,468 units in the July-September period.

Maruti Suzuki India led the passenger vehicle export segment, shipping 2,05,763 units, followed by Hyundai Motor India with 99,540 units. SIAM President Shailesh Chandra highlighted that the strong export performance across all segments in Q2 underscores the growing international acceptance and brand recognition of Indian-manufactured vehicles.
